Derwent

Derwent CU meets every Wednesday evening. We gather at the Porters Lodge at 6.15, where we'll head somewhere for discussion, teaching, prayer or general merriment. Then we break up into small groups for Bible study. Generally speaking, we reconvene in the bar afterwards for drinks, games and to watch the occasional footy match. We also tend to meet for prayer once a week, and have a chilled social round 2nd/3rd year houses on a tuesday (complete with greasy pizza). Here's a few of the other things we got up to last year: trip to Scarborough, social action projects, BBQ's, inter-college CU
sports, dinner at Akbars (probably the best restaurant in the North of England...or so they claim). We're a friendly bunch and would love to have

Freshers Week Events:

Would be great to see you at one or more of our freshers week meetings...just a great chance to get to know some fellow Christians right from the start.

SATURDAY / SUNDAY ARRIVALS
Do look out for CU members sporting cheesy matching T-Shirts with huge LOST?? signs on. We will be floating around campus directing lost freshers, carrying bags, reassuring worried parents (!) etc and there will always be two of us in Derwent Bar. Also look out for the UYCU gazeebos which will be up in the afternoons in Vanbrugh Bowl. Hunt us out and say hey.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT FIRST DERWENT COLLEGE CU!
First College CU for all 3 years of students. We will be meeting in Derwent Porters (by the sofa area where you collected your key) at 6pm and then walking to a second year house for dinner and getting to know each other time. One party will be leaving after dinner and heading back to campus to get into costume for Club D another staying for games...take your pick.

THURSDAY YORK EXPLORATION!
A new town, where the heck is everything??! There is nothing to do Thursday so we thought a wander into town would be cool. We'll show you the banks, the nearest cash points to the clubs, the few uni buildings in town (Kings Manor and Minster Library) the cheapest places to do your shopping, introduce you to one of our favourite hidden coffee shops and do the traditional freshers roll down the hill at Clifford's Tower! :) Meet Derwent Porters 11am.

FRIDAY NIGHT GRUB CRAWL!
Missing your mum's home cooking already or just think the idea of free food sounds sweet?! Join us on a tour of 3 Derwent second year pads with a sitting of dinner at each one! As usual meet at Derwent Porters, time 6pm.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON FIRST MAIN CU!
(4 - 5.30 Room V/045, downstairs lecture theatre in Vanbrugh College) Always such a great celebratory time to meet some of the other Christians on campus and worship our God together. Special Freshers Week early start time of 4pm so that there is plenty of time to go to YUSU Access All Areas after or hang out with us in the nearest bar .
