International Christian union
As a CU, we really want to connect with the International students of the university! Read on if you want to find out more.

Hello. Ni Hao. Tjenare. Vanakkam. Jambo. Sannu. Salaam Aleikum. Hej.
… and a very warm welcome to YOU if you are an international student joining us here in the UK! You’ve made an excellent choice in coming to York. We hope you will settle in quickly, and look forward to meeting you soon …

2021 HIGHLIGHTS

Bible Explore
Bible Explore is an open, friendly community of international students interested in learning about what the Bible is, what it says, and why it matters to our communities today. It doesn’t matter how much or little you know about the Bible or what you believe- everyone is welcome! We meet at Wednesday lunchtimes and we’d love to see you and hear your ideas. For more information, email Rebecca (Rebecca.smith@friendsinternational.uk).

International Friendship partners
Our International Friendship Partner Scheme pairs international students with members of the Christian Union who are familiar with York and its people! This is an opportunity to share culture, form a new friendship and explore the city of York together.
International friendship partners will meet up regularly online or face to face. Not only is this a great way to find a community here at York, it’s also a great way to improve your spoken English.
To sign up: Click on the link below or send us an email at international@uycu.org.uk with your name, gender and the country you currently live in.
What we’ve been up to
We have lots of events that run throughout the year which you can get involved in! This past year, we’ve held a whole variety of events from origami evenings, to picnics in the park and having dinners together. In the first term of each year, we also run an International Freshers week where you can learn more about the British culture, and also meet other International students.
